Monday evening lettuce patrol From: Fritz Date: 10/12/2015 07:51 PM To: Participating Natural Resource Agencies and Volunteers To the short list: I covered from the past the east end of the Brice Prairie barrier island (out to where the channel turns out to the lake, end of rice beds) to the Fred Funk landing tonight from 5 to 6pm and came up with 6 plants. At least the numbers are diminishing. The wind was still just barely a bit onshore, so I don't think plants could escape the channel without being blown ashore...yet. But will become a little more northerly (offshore) tonight. If the wind allows I will try to float the Brice Prairie shore down to Red Pines again tomorrow morning. Shawn said this afternoon he was planning to launch at Mosey about 9am and cover the east side, next to the tracks, down to the Onalaska spillway and over to French Island to see if any has blown over there. I'm trying to see if any Sailing Club kayakers want to join in on a French Island patrol, but I suspect that won't happen until later next week. --Fritz
