Water Lettuce on Lake Onalaska: Thursday Oct 22 Date: 10/23/2015 07:09 AM From: Fritz To: Participating Natural Resource Agencies and Volunteers Thursday October 22: Marie French went out again Thursday morning and found 10 plants in the Brice Prairie Channel, on the east bank of the barrier island across from ZB and North Shore drive corner. She says she must have missed them yesterday. Had to kayak up next to bank and under trees to find them. Still quite green and healthy looking. Scott Caven searched along Fisherman's Road on French Island and along the Onalaska spillway. He also kayaked in front of the Clearwater Cabins on Brice Prairie, zig-zagging back and forth, and around Broken Gun Island in the afternoon, avoiding times when waterfowl were using the area. I searched the east end of the Brice Prairie channel this morning, finding 3 plants stuck in wild rice beds (survey map attached). Onshore southeast winds today, so nothing could get out into the lake until tomorrow. --Fritz Event summary and chronology on Lake District website: http://www.lakeonalaska.org/invasive_species.html
