Water Lettuce on Lake Onalaska: Sunday Oct 25, 3 plants Date: 10/26/2015 07:24 AM From: Fritz To: Participating Natural Resource Agencies and Volunteers Water Lettuce Reports from Sunday October 25 (3 plants reported so far): ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------= John Nash surveyed from Z/ZB stop sign to Red Pines on Sunday - haven't heard from him yet but presumably found no plants. Looked like Scott Caven's kayak had been out, but have not heard from him yet. Tim Gerber was out by the boat launch by the sailboat club at Nelson Park - didn't see any water lettuce. I surveyed from the lower Brice Prairie Channel to the Z/ZB stop sign (map attached), finding 3 water lettuce plants and 2 leaf fragments (with no roots). The easternmost plant was well east of the USFWS overlook, almost to Clearwater Cabins. Haven't found any that far east in awhile. Winds are onshore for a couple days, but starting Wednesday afternoon there will be a wind event with strong NW winds with some offshore transport risk. Would be good to get some additional survey effort for water lettuce before then. --Fritz Attachments: Sunday.jpg 44.2 KB
